School Room- A New Look

Due to preparing for the arrival of our new baby girl, we've moved our school room. In fact, we changed almost every room around. (Amazing how one little baby can change the entire household.) Although it took a couple of weeks to get everything in place, it was a great opportunity to purge, reorganize, revamp, and renew! I love to organize, so this was such a great de-stresser, and this new space allows us to function more efficiently. Here is a photo of our room. I will post more later...

Weekly Highlights: Week 22~28

Just catching up on our school blog. It's been a busy but fun winter!

Science: Balloon rocket.
Balloon rocket race.

Sabbath Dinner- Traditional Jewish dinner with Challah bread & grape juice. We also combined our lesson regarding Jacob & Esau by making Lentil soup. It was delicious- but hard to imagine selling your birthright for a bowl of soup! :)

Shepherd's Lunch: Ezra dressed up as David, with his water tied to his waist & lunch sack in his hand. The rest of us played the role of his "sheep".

We went outside for a walk, following David. We then stopped at our neighborhood park & enjoyed our special Shepherd's picnic lunch - food from the Bible times. This was a hit with the kiddos! The food was yummy & so healthy too!

Challah bread with apricot spread, figs, dates, goat's cheese, almonds & pomegranate.

Good times!

Weekly Highlights: Week 21- Christmas!

We got together with some of our homeschool friends to prepare a special Christmas mini-program. We sang a medley of Christmas tunes at church & what a blessing it was! All the children did such a great job singing with hand motions, reciting scriptures & sharing their love for Jesus with everyone. They sang at all 3 Christmas Eve services & still had energy left at the end.

What a great learning experience this was. We participated in a local church's Food & Toy boxing day. Here is Ezra working as a runner to retrieve each item to be boxed by our team. There were several hundred people there who boxed thousands of boxes & bags. We got to deliver these items to some local needy folks & I appreciated that the children got to experience firsthand the joy of giving. It was also a great opportunity to truly give thanks for just how fortunate we are. This was definitely one of our favorite memories from this Christmas.

Although it's Christmas week, we did do a little bit of school, including reading out loud with younger siblings.
