2010 FALL- New School Year

Miss K started Kindergarten last Fall & has been enjoying homeschool very much. Z-man is doing preschool at home and he's also doing very well, especially with a longer attention span than last year when he was 2.

With Mr. A at a private school this year, I've been able to focus on the middles' curricula. It's been a pretty relaxing school year so far. Kindergarten curriculum takes only about 1 1/2 to 2 hours each day. Z-man learns right along with his big sister while baby L takes her morning nap.

Miss K was reading before September, so school has been super easy for her. So far, we've been able to complete each unit (6-day lessons) in 2~3 days. I love that MFW K curriculum is so flexible and I can customize it for each child based on his/ her individual needs. I also love MFW K because there are so many wonderful hands on activities. Having done 1st grade with Mr. A last school year, we know what is to come for her next Fall. I don't see the reason to skip MFW Kindergarten altogether because it's such a fun curriculum! At this point, it's not about pushing her as far as I can academically, but about building godly character & laying the foundation in her that learning is FUN and for a lifetime.

We started school in September. (Much later than last school year, which was July! I'm much more relaxed this year! :)) Here are some photos to capture our learning experiences thus far:

#1: S is for Sun (Jesus is the Light of the World)
#2: M is for Moon (We are the light of the world.)
Paper Mosaic (S, Sun= Jesus; M, Moon= Us, reflecting the Son's light)

Learning about the ratio of Sun, Moon, Earth: (The big yellow papers combined represent the sun. It was a lot of paper, so I chose to conserve.) :)
Miss K doing her daily calendar binder: (She LOVES doing C.B.!)

One of Z-man's preschool activities, Stamp Art:

Another one he likes to do, magnetic letters on a cookie sheet:

Baby L as sweet as can be. One of her favorite hang outs:

Playing upper & lower case matching game, while Mr. A works on his Rod & Staff spelling:
Miss K's computer art (choice time):

Mr. A working on some spelling:
The Creation Mini-book by Miss K:

God created the world in 6 days & rested on the 7th day. He created everything. He can do anything.
Be still my heart! :) I love cute kids in cute backpacks ready to learn!!

Our Upgraded Family of Six

2011 Family Line Up:

"The Chief" = a.k.a. Daddy, Honey, Mr. Fix-it, The Science Guy, IT Guru. I'm so thankful for my wonderful husband, the leader of our home, who is the hardest working man I know. He is diligent, kind, patient, funny, and is always putting others before himself. The Chief plays many roles as our principal, science teacher, human play structure, but more than anything, he enjoys covering our family each day with God's Word. "The righteous man walks in his integrity; his children are blessed after him." Proverbs 20:7

~~~~~~~
"Mr. A" = simply because he's awwwesome in every way! We couldn't have asked for a better firstborn. He is super helpful, compassionate, fun, bright, social, and loves to study the Bible. Mr. Awesome is currently in 2nd grade, attending a local private school.
Future Plans: Mr. A wants to be an Astronaut, Scuba Diver, and a Pastor. He says he wants to reach the space, the deep ocean, and land with the same purpose in mind- to bring the gospel to all creatures. "Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9
~~~~~~~
"Miss K" = a.k.a. Our resident Princess, the Entertainer. Our fun, loving, independent, outgoing, and very bright Kindergartner is enjoying homeschool very much. This sweet & sassy girl literally dances & sings all day long. She never runs out of songs. Her creative mind and sometimes dramatic personality may play an important role someday. She loves her Prince Jesus and often asks about the palace he's currently preparing for her in Heaven. "Blessed are the pure in heart; for they shall see God." Matthew 5:8

~~~~~~~
"Mr. Z-man" = We call him Z-man because he thinks he's much older than he is. He loves being 3 though and lights up for his favorite toy- Lightning McQueen. Z is enjoying preschool at home and getting to learn right right along with his big sis. He's quite energetic, funny, passionate, loud :), learns quickly, imitates everything his big sibs do, but often says things to let his parents know he has a great mind of his own. "Mommy, Jesus is everywhere. Jesus is God. God is Jesus. There is only only God." - Mr. Z man. "God alone is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will never be shaken." Psalm 62:2.
~~~~~~~
"Baby L" = Our little angel from Heaven. She is a happy, mellow, curious, & lovable baby with such a peaceful & patient countenance. It has been a huge blessing that she is such a great sleeper. She even naps 2x a day and lets us get a lot of school work done. :) She's definitely loved on by all her older siblings who take such good care of her! Thank you Lord for this perfect addition to our family. "But when God, who set me apart from birth and called me by His grace, was pleased to reveal His Son in me so that I might preach Him." Galatians 1:15-16

Catching Up.

I've been taking time off from blogging. I've been busy with a new baby, along with other aspects of being a full time wife & mom of 4, and I love it! :) From time to time, I try and glance through other homeschool blogs. It's always encouraging to see what other families are doing. I also get a lot of ideas from so many creative families and their fun ways of learning. For that, I'm appreciative! I'm also thankful for the comments left by fellow homeschooling moms from various places. It's nice to know that somehow, our experiences, our photos are blessing them in return. :)

I'm pretty behind on my journaling on this site. In attempt to bring it more up to date, here are some photos from our end-of-school Spring/ Summer months, starting from the most recent.
